National Science Day 2026 celebration

National Science Day was celebrated by department of Zoology in collaboration with CMFRI (Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute) on 28th February 2026. Theme for National Science Day 2026 was Aquatics. Various preserved specimens from departmental museum were displayed and the aquarium tanks of some ornamental fishes were set up, there was display of books in field biology. Students from nearby schools and junior college were invited for the exhibition.

“Thinking Beyond Disciplines: A Botany Graduate’s Journey into Food Research” The Department of Botany organized an Alumni Talk under the series Wise Words to provide students with insights into interdisciplinary career opportunities on 26th February 2026 . The invited alumna, Ms. Aishwarya Akolkar, shared her academic and professional journey from studying Botany to pursuing a career in Food Research and Development. She highlighted how knowledge of plant science forms a strong foundation for careers in food technology, nutrition science and product development.

A week long Field excursion and industrial visit to Uttarakhand

Conducted a field excursion and industrial visit to Uttarakhand (Haridwar, Dehradun, Mussoorie and Dhanaulti) from 2nd February 2026 to 8th February 2026 for the students of FYBSc EVS, SYBSc EVS and TYBSc EVS. The excursion included visits to Rajaji National Park, Forest Research Institute University, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Eco-Park, etc.
