Gravity 2024: The Temporal Odyssy

On 18th January, 2024 the Physics Department of SIES College of Arts, Science & Commerce conducted its annual departmental festival named Gravity under Utkarsh. The theme chosen this year was Time and the hence the tagline: The Temporal Odyssey. The core of the festival was an exhibition, in which the volunteers, with crucial assistance from professors, managed to design, create, and put on display various exhibits, experiments and associated charts providing the attendees with a deep insight into the subject. The list of exhibits is as follows: Marx Generator (Model) James Webb Telescope (Model) Space Origami Chandrayan (Model) Core of Nuclear Bomb (Model) Laser Spirograph (Working) Illustration of Centrifugal Force (Experiment) Sound Resonance (Experiment) Non-Newtonian Fluid (Experiment) Invisibility using Lenses (Working) Chaos Theory (Theoretical) Tensegrity (Working) Ames Room (Working) Total Internal Refraction (Experiment) Youngs Double Slit Experiment (Experiment) Projectile Motion (Working) Speed of Light (Experiment) Book to PDF Converter (Working) Insulin Signaling (Simulation) Quantum Computing (Theoretical) Mobius Strip (Model) Along with exhibits, the exhibition also housed two games, which were prepared by the volunteers themselves. The games were: Wire Buzzer Hydraulic Maze To summarize, the exhibition as a mix of ingenuity, creativity and skill of the volunteers fostering the curiosity and interest of the attendees. Along with the exhibition, various games were also organized by Gravity, which received a wide and enthusiastic response from the participants. The games organized under Gravity were: Chrono-Poly (14 Participants == 7 teams) Era Escapade (52 Participants == 13 teams) Meme-o-logy (8 Participants) These games aimed at stimulating not only the intellectual abilities of the participants, but also their critical thinking and decision-making abilities. With the mixture of enthusiastic participants and determined volunteers, all the games organized were a huge success.

The event titled Aseem khoj: Boundless search focused on the theme of the endless search that an individual engages itself in his life. The intercollegiate event began with participants being given a briefing about the treasure hunt. A team of three participants was made.

It was held offline in Biology laboratory 1 & 2 sponsored by Zoot Digital and Biren Daftary Biology. The fest consisted of two events Green Genius Gala and Artistic Botany Blitz and a stall named as the Blossom Bazaar.
Utkarsha 2024- CHEMORISIS Lets make the BOND Stronger

Event 1: RANGEELA…. (Chase d Colours) RANGEELA was a game event about correlating colors with magical d elements, transition elements. The winners were: 1st prize: Zinia Soares (FYJC) and Anusri Nair (FYJC) 2nd Prize: Siddhi Sharma (FYBCOM) and Muthulakshmi (FYJC). Event 2: K -Mystery—The Chemical Treasure Hunt K -Mystery, the treasure hunt was a game held on 18th January 2024. It was a team game in which each team consisted of 2 members.The winners who found the treasure were: 1st Prize: Shaikh Wasim and Vivek Singh (MSc part 2 students). Event 3: Varnah—The Abstract Reality The CHROMOBLAST theme was imparted to provide a platform to build up innovative experiments on Colour Chemistry which are involved in our day-to-day life through an exhibition titled Varnah-The Abstract Reality was held in the chemistry main laboratory.

The event started with a welcome address by Dr. Varsha Mule and Dr. Ajinkya Gaikwad.

One day Institutional Visit was organized by Chemistry Department for the TYBSc Chemistry and MSc Inorganic Chemistry students to Department of Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactant Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology, Matunga Mumbai 400019 on 12th January 2024. 17 UG and 9 PG students and 2 staff members visited the laboratory. The students learnt the technique, procedure and scope of Column Chromatography, and insight into extraction of oil from cold press machine.
