Essay Contest
30th January 2021, English Department
Under Value Lab activities, value for the month of January was ‘Leadership’. On 30th January 2021, an intra-collegiate essay writing competition on ‘Leadership’ was conducted. The essays were to be of 1000-1200 words and were scrutinized by Ms Vrushali Gupte and Dr Seema C, professors of Philosophy and English departments respectively. The winners were given certificates and their achievements mentioned on the Instagram handles of Value Lab and English Association.

Dr. Raj Kumar Kothari, Professor, Political Science at Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal delivered a guest lecture on the importance of strategic relations between India and Russia in a constantly evolving global political scenario followed by a Q&A session.
Photography Competition-Capturing Culture
26th January 2021, English Association
In collaboration with Cultural Association, English Association conducted a photography competition on 26th January 2021. The participants had to capture Indian art and culture and submit their entries along with suitable captions. Mr Prashin Jagger, a music photographer and Ms Janani Srinivas, a content writer, judged the contest. All the participants were given certificates and celebrated on the social media handle of Cultural Association.

Capturing Culture

‘Capturing Culture’ the fourth event of Cultural Association in the year 2020-21 was conducted in the third week of the month of January 2021. The event was organized in collaboration with English Association. With a theme of Dying Indian Art, participants were asked to complete one of the four captions provided and upload pictures clicked by them that explain their caption. Google forms were circulated among students and the event had a turn-out of a total of 42 participants. Mr. Prashin Jagger, photographer and filmmaker alongside Ms. Janani Srinivas, a student of communication and journalism were the judges for the event. On the 27th of January, the winners were announced wherein Ms. Resha Boricha and Ms. Neelmayee Khot were awarded 1st and 2nd prizes respectively. All the participants and winners were sent E-certificates via mail, the winners were also given a social media shoutout.

Eminent mycologist, Dr. Roo Vandegrift, Ph.D., Institute of Ecology and Evolution, University of Oregon, Eugene accepted the invite to be the guest speaker.

To commemorate Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, The department of History and The department of Philosophy, jointly organized with the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra of Chinmaya Mission, Powai, 'Youth Arise Awake Session. The session was interactive and thought-provoking activities which highlighted the values of Swadharma, Karma and Ahimsa in everyday life. Mr. . Aravind Raghavan, Trainer in Chinmaya Yuva Kendra guided students on value, concepts and their relevance in life. The session also helped them to get an insight in to learning skills to better themselves in their life.
