National seminar The Dept. of Hindi and the Export Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) jointly organized a national seminar on the topic ‘Bhartiya gyan prampara samruddh virasat va ujjwal bhavishya’ to celebrate international mother language day on 4th March, 2024. The seminar was divided by four sessions resource persons like Prof. Devi N Ganesh , Prof. (Dr.) Ujjwala Chakradev (VC, SNDT University ), Ila Arun (theatre & film personality )Dr. T P Shashikumar , Shri Khalid Quaiser( ADG Police Maharashtra ) , Dr. S.P. Dubey, Dr. Satish Pandey , Dr. Rajendra Srivastav, Dr. Rekha Sharma & Dr. Usha Mishra have shared there expertise on Indian knowledge system. The key note address was delivered by Dr. Uma Shankar (Principal, SIES College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Autonomous ). Harsha Bangari (Managing Director of EXIM Bank) welcomed the dignitaries & participations. Dr. Dinesh Pathak & Shri Navendu Bajpyee proposed the vote of thanks. The seminar was well attended by academicians, bankers & students of different colleges of Mumbai University & SNDT University.
Experiential learning by encouraging the students to participate in the large scale experiments at research institutions/National facilities
The main objective of the visit was to offer students, practical exposure beyond the confines of traditional classroom learning. Recognizing the pivotal role that experiential learning plays in shaping a holistic understanding of environmental science, the department seized the opportunity to facilitate this immersive educational experience.
The Department of Philosophy organized a guest talk on ‘Future Career Prospects in Philosophy’ , by Dr. Uma Shankar, Principal and Head, department of Philosophy which was also followed by the inaugural of the newsletter 'Effulgence to Reality’. The session began with highlighting the importance of Philosophy and its relevance in everyday life. This was followed with understanding broader aspects of careers related to philosophy. The session brought in awareness about the scope and field of study in philosophy to the students. The talk enhanced the students with career options in Philosophy after graduation. The talk ended with helping students feel motivated toward their future making them aware of the scope of the field.
The Department of Philosophy arranged for a guidance talk by Ms. Tejashwini H to help students with their anxiety and stress during exams. The talk started with great enthusiasm by first understanding where anxiety related to exams came from. The talk highlighted how due to our irrational beliefs and thinking we bring stress upon ourselves. The talk then moved forward with the students asking questions and understanding where their self defeating thoughts come from. A philosophical touch with logic to deal with the stress during exams was helpful to the students to focus only on those things that we have control over. The talk ended by giving philosophical antidotes to bring in a better structure to help organize and strategise a study routine for the students.
The Research meet aimed to demystify research. Its purpose was to inculcate research aptitude among students, thereby motivating them to pursue research. It gave them an ideal platform to present their research and exchange their ideas with peers and faculties.
Dr. Rajam Natarajan (Senior Poet & Critic ) was invited on 14th March 2024. she recited her poems from collection Uttaradhikar & also discussed women issues & problems in Indian society.
