Marathi language day was celebrated by Department of Mass Media on 27th February, 2020. Multi Media and Mass Communication students took an initiative to organise and celebrate this day by exhibiting posters of stalwarts like the eminent Marathi poet and writer Shri Shirvadkar popularly known as ‘Kusmagraj’, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja, Saint Dyaneshwar, Vinda Karandikar and P. L. Deshpande in the field of Arts.
The students of FYBAMMC 2019-2020 performed a skit and mime act on the importance of Marathi as a mother tongue in Maharashtra.
The exclusive craft of the Shivneri Fort was designed and displayed at the entrance of the department for an historical emotional connect and reminiscence. |

The QKnit in collaboration with the Department of Mass Media organised one day youth festival in SIES College, Room No. 29 on 11th January, 2020. The Fest was conducted with the objective of spreading awareness on the Gender Sensitization for youth across gender spectrum. BMM students volunteered and also few students participated in the competitions. In addition, Ms. Kavya Pillai won the story telling competition, alongside Ms. Miura Bijoy bagged the third prize in poetry writing and recitation competition respectively. SIES mass media department was promotions, media and venue partner in association. The event was embarked under Queer Azaadi Mumbai Pride Calender 2020. |

| BMM department organised a two events in Uttkarsh |

Picture saga was an event conducted for photography mavens under the categories namely; usage of mobile camera and DSLR for shooting and knitting a picturesque story on the themes given to the participants. Subsequently, the theme with the best click and storytelling won the hearts of judges and the audiences. On the other hand, the creative minds crafted an event called Decode the Fog, a game event, under the department of Mass Media. The event consisted of a mind-boggling session where the contestants guessed the price of antique materials, they guessed the brands of the taglines given to them and as tie-breaker the team had to decode Hindi songs which were translated in English. The events were a blend of the mass media education with a fun filled daybreak on the campus in turn. |

| SYBMM Students’ industrial visit to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer |

The BMM Department of SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized an industrial visit to Rajasthan for the SYBMM students from 17th to 22nd of December, 2019. The visit covered two major cities of Rajasthan- Jodhpur and Jaisalmer under the guidance of Faculty- Ms. Amanjeet Kaur, Ms. Nikhila Chandavarkar, and Mr. Sandeep Tiwari. As a part of the folk media and mass communication study, the students headed to Mehrangarh fort and Jaswant Thada with beautiful architectural structures. The students visited the Jaisalmer Military Station with museums showcasing the achievements by Indian Army. The students headed to Desert Adventure Camp, Jaisalmer. They witnessed live cultural dance and puppetry shows and performance by the locals followed by star gazing activity to boot. |

The BMM Department of SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized an industrial visit to Mahabaleshwar-Pune for FYBAMMC students from 24th to 26th November, 2019. The visit covered two major industries, Mapro production and sales distribution outlet and Lokmat printing press under the guidance of Faculty- Ms. Amanjeet Kaur, Ms. Ruchita Karmokar. The students were shown a documentary on the making and selling of jams and jellies respectively. In Pune they visited the Lokmat printing press and observed the working of the newspaper agency and printing of newspapers correspondingly. |

The BMM department organised an activity which FYBAMMC students performed by 7 member group on 3rd October from 9 am to 12.30 pm in the backside of the college. The themes centred on social issues which was portrayed through various forms of oral communication on the topics such as religious disparity, rape, human and organ trafficking, decriminalisation of Section 377, save girl child, drug addiction, drunk and driving cases. The students of FYBAMMC participated enthusiastically and received a positive response from a captivated audience eventually. |

BMM department in the month of August in collaboration with the SIES Value Lab propagated the importance of the value – FORTITUDE
• The BMM department of SIES College of Arts, Science, and Commerce in collaboration with the Value lab had engaged in the pursuit of 'Fortitude' as a value for the month of August proposed by Vaneeta Madam. In order to know each student's idea of Fortitude and to promote artistic excellence, a Poster making competition was held on 16th August 2017. The participants were asked to report to the Media Lab, where they stashed their posters. They exhibited their posters and expressed their views quite impressively, with the help of anecdotes, quotes and catchphrases. The participants were from various departments. The competition offered them a platform to demonstrate their creative prowess.
• The posters were finally assessed by the Principal and Chairperson of the Value lab, Dr. Uma Shankar. The results were declared on 23rd August, 2017. Mansi Mudaliyar from FYBMM had won the first prize, while Sreyasi Sengupta from FYBA had bagged the second. Fortitude' as a philosophy, is alluringly charming and interesting. The basic precept of Fortitude is that it is always better to endure your hardships with pleasure, than to cower in fear of failure, plagued by your turbulent emotions that eventually invites you to annihilate and subordinate yourself. |

Distribution of sanitary pads under health and hygiene by Mass media and NSS students at Kawthewadi on 6th August, 2017.
• The BMM department of SIES College of arts, science and commerce, Sion west collected sanitary napkins to spread awareness about personal hygiene at Kawthewadi, our adopted village under the guidance of the BMM course coordinator. The pad distribution was done on 6th of August, 2017.
• This event was conducted in association with the NSS Unit of our college who distributed sanitary pads to women and educated its importance too. Under the health hygiene section as an ISR activity, the SYBMM students prepared boxes for collection of pads and conducted class to class information drive requesting the students of the college to do a charitable contribution by donating sanitary pads.
• All the collected pads were then handed over to the NSS and BMM student volunteers to distribute at Kawthewadi. Consequently, 500 sanitary pads were collected from BSC IT, CS, BIO Tech, etc. departments of the college and the college students taught better ways to maintain hygiene, also helped to overcome the traditional way which was unhygienic and promoted diseases too.
• In the due course mass media department was informed that, the impact is so positive that the ladies asked the girl volunteers for a second round of donation of pads as they are using the same and found it more comfortable. The activity was quite satisfactory. |

Visit to Godrej cultural lab, Vikhroli on 4th August, 2017 with BMM students.
• The Godrej cultural lab, Vikhroli had conducted a three day event on Partition of India. There were several exhibitions, performances, showcases, discussions and screenings on the campus. The event was from 4-6 th of August, 2017. The FYBMM, SYBMM AND TYBMM journalism students were accompanied by Ms. Vaneeta Raney and Sir R .N. Bhaskar.
• The exhibitions included well of remembrance, stitching history, the museum of object, echoes of Sindh, split ends. These events gave a glimpse of the whole partition phase like the suffering of people, loss of their near and dear ones. There were panel discussions by various authors and eminent personalities. The incidences were shared by the witnesses and other transmitters researching on the same. Also, pouring their heart out, as those personalities had gone through the struggle and pain.
• There were films screened based on the partition one amongst them was Begum Jaan. The films portrayed the real situations of the prostitutes during the partition phase and had great impact on the people watching the film.
• The event had feelings flowing throughout as people remembered their families, relatives with a sentimental connect and experiences. It was a Cherishable involvement sensitizing the past history and remembering the sacrifices and the struggles of great men. |
