The Cultural Association of SIES College of Arts, Science, and Commerce hosted their third online event ‘MIXtape’ in the month of November 2020. The event provided a platform for students of SIES College to showcase their musical taste and also creativity. Participants were asked to send in the audio tracks of their own mashup of a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 5 songs. They were also given a choice to perform solo or in a group with a time duration of 2 minutes. Registration forms were circulated online from the 1st of November, 2020. The competition was judged by Mr. Aditya Rajagopalan and Mr. Kishore Nadavdekar, the teaching staff of SIES College.

Methodology/Details: Department of Botany organised a National Webinar on Medical Mycology in India in association with Mycological Society of India, (Mumbai Unit). It was held online through MS Teams platform on Sunday, 8th November 2020 from 10.00 am to 11.30pm. Eminent mycologist, Dr. Harish C. Gugnani, Retired Professor, Medical Microbiology, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi was invited as the guest speaker.

A sum number of 33 members participated in the event and the top 10 performances were uploaded on the official YouTube channel of the Cultural Association. The performances of the top 3 winners Ashish Paul, followed by Dhrupadi Das and Aathira Pisharody were also featured on the Instagram page of the Cultural Association. The top 3 winners were declared from 9th – 11th of November and were also given E-Citations.
Dr Vidya Premkumar, a published poet and professor, rendered a lecture on ‘The Importance of Poetry in Current Times’ on 30th November 2020. She explained how poetry can become a form of solace for people and how it helps in facing mental health issues. Later, in the second part of the event, the results of the online poetry writing competition- ‘Courage in Adversity’ were declared. All the winners and the participants were given e-certificates. Attendees: 50 Outcome: Students learnt to appreciate the technicalities of poetry Title: Introduction to Psychoanalysis Objective: To provide a greater understanding of Psychoanalysis Methodology: Online guest lecture and demonstration Report: On 1st October 2020, Ms Radhika Chandrasekaran, a certified Arts-based therapist, delivered a talk on Psychoanalysis. She explained the structure of Personality- Id, Ego and Superego by conducting live quizzes and polls. Attendees: 49 Outcome: The attendees gained a deeper understanding of the topic of psychoanalysis. Title: Life Under Lockdown Objective: To gain an insight into the Japanese art form of manga Methodology: A guest lecture on Japanese anime and a story –board competition. Report: On 30th September 2020, the Association conducted its very first event of the Academic year. A guest lecture was given by Ms Lakshmi Pillai, titled ‘An Insight on Manga’. It was followed with an online Storyboard competition on the topic- ‘Life Under Lockdown- Framing Perspectives’. Attendees: 27 Outcome: Participants and attendees gained an understanding of the intricacies of the Japanese anime form of manga.
