• Third year students of “ Financial Economics†elective participated in the workshop conducted by Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 3rd December 2019.
The Department of Commerce organised a One Day Symposium on “Dynamics of Financial Systems in the Digital Era†in association with Financial Planning Academy for students and teachers across Mumbai.
Blood Donation Drive was organised by the NSS Unit in the College premises in association with Sion Hospital Blood Bank and successfully collected 224 units of blood from donors.
The Department of Commerce organised a Workshop on “Career Opportunities in Audit, International Taxation in India and Abroad†in association with Financial Planning Academy and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) which was benefited by 116 participants.
• 'In Memoriam' was a concert held as a tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. M S Subbulakshmi. The concert had two sections, one for renowned carnatic artists and the other for the SIES students and alumni to perform. The auditions for the alumni and students was held on the 28th November2019. The judges for the eliminations were Sri Aditya Rajagopalan , Sri G.Krishnan , Dr. Lakshmi Muthukumar and Ms. Sudha B. The performers for the concert were Ms.Siddhi Krishnan and Ms. Nitya Rajendran with the accompanists Mr. Aditya Rajagopalan and Mr. S. Balasubramaniam. The chief guest was Mr Ganesh Kumar, Chairman, Fine Arts Society, Chembur.
This was an online event where images submitted to the team’s official social media handle would be uploaded on the Instagram story feature and students would vote for Mr. and Ms. Traditional.
Traditional and Rose Day was for all the college students to dress up in Indian traditional wear and gift roses to loved ones that were purchased at the stalls set up by the team. The students dressed up in traditional wear and gifted roses to their dear ones. The team also planned for an online event called Mr. and Ms. Traditional 2019, where images submitted to the team’s official social media handle would be uploaded on the Instagram story feature and student would vote for Mr. and Ms. Traditional. All college students gathered in the quadrangle post lectures for their pictures which were submitted for the online competition.

A Special Kolam Competition – An event to showcase ones Artistry with Colors and Intricate Traditional Patterns
Team Skyline had organised ‘Chirpy Chidiya’ on Dec 11th (Traditional day) and Dec 12th (Formal day), 2019. It was an open-board of secrets and confessions. The basic idea was that students can write their messages anonymously on a sticky note and post it!! This secret board saw many hilarious, cute, risqué, friendly confessions, for the two days that it was set up. Overall, it was a safe platform for the students to hash out their confessions without being judged for it.
The Commerce Association organised an online Slogan Writing Competition on “Save Environment Save Mankind†at intra-collegiate level where 16 students participated in making slogans to create awareness and sensitization among fellow students to develop love and care for the environment.
• Formals and Chocolate day was held on 12th December,2019. Students of the college dressed up in smart Formal wear and gifted chocolates to their dear ones which were purchased at the stalls set up by the team. All college students were invited to be a part of the college days by dressing up in western formals. The boys in tuxedos and girls in gowns.The students gathered around the quadrangle after their individual picture sessions to see the event ‘Mr and Ms SIES’
Mr. and Ms. SIES was a personality pageant open for all the college students. The event was conducted in the quadrangle. This year the team planned for the pageant to comprise of two rounds first a talent round and second a personality round. In the first round the participants must display their talents within the time frame of one minute. The participants are scored and shortlisted to the next round upon the judge’s discretion. In the second round the judges ask a question which can be a situation-based question where the judges give a situation and ask the participant what they would do in the said situation or a question based on their talent displayed.The event was hosted by the Joint Cultural Secretary Kavya Pillai. The judges were CA Avin Shah and Ms.Benifer Wykes.There were 35 participants and the title of Mr and Ms SIES was won by Archit Shettygar (SYJC arts) and Fareha Kazi (SYBA).
A Carnatic Vocal and Instrumental Concert in memory of Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi on Wednesday, 11th December 2019
Participated with the Department of Humanities in organizing Two Day International Seminar on ‘Mapping Indian Diaspora – Issues and Perspectives’, funded by RUSA on 13th – 14th December, 2019.
The culture of Mumbai was explored by students via skits, songs, dances etc. Mrs. Bharati Patil added a famous marathi actress graced the occassion by addressing the students. A few studets from SYBA had put up a stall of Vada Pav, which got overwhelming response.
SYBSc students participated in a workshop on ‘Chromatographic techniques’ organized at Institute of Chromatography, SIES, Nerul held on 16th, 17th 18th December 2019.
The BMM Department of SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized an industrial visit to Rajasthan for the SYBMM students from 17th to 22nd of December, 2019. The visit covered two major cities of Rajasthan- Jodhpur and Jaisalmer under the guidance of Faculty- Ms. Amanjeet Kaur, Ms. Nikhila Chandavarkar, and Mr. Sandeep Tiwari. As a part of the folk media and mass communication study, the students headed to Mehrangarh fort and Jaswant Thada with beautiful architectural structures. The students visited the Jaisalmer Military Station with museums showcasing the achievements by Indian Army. The students headed to Desert Adventure Camp, Jaisalmer. They witnessed live cultural dance and puppetry shows and performance by the locals followed by star gazing activity to boot.
This program was conducted to -To gain knowledge regarding the principles of sensory science, human senses and how they are used in sensory evaluation. Understanding the importance of subjective sensory evaluation activities in the food and beverage industry. To understand, perform practical experiments and to evaluate various types of descriptive and different tests in sensory evaluation. To understand the overview and scope of sensory evaluation as a profession.
Microprocessor is an essential component of computers. To develop a better understanding of microprocessors a workshop was conducted for TYBSc students on 19th December 2019 by the Department of Physics. All students were paired, and each pair was given a single kit of microprocessor. The resource material was provided free of cost, which included assembly language programs. These programs were executed by various methods. The workshop's purpose was to develop thinking ability and coding skills among the students. At the end of the workshop, it was observed that participants got hands-on experience of working on such microprocessor kits.
The workshop on Career Opportunities in Healthcare Management was organized for the undergraduate and post-graduate science students to create awareness about opportunities in healthcare management.
The lecture series was supported by SIES college PSA. The purpose of this lecture series was to reach out to our alumni and to get them to inspire the current batch of students on their onward journey. Ltd; Dr Swati Jadhav, Team leader, Advanced enzymes Ltd; Mr Rajesh Yadav, CEO and Founder of Aerobiosys Innovations Pvt Ltd and Ms Neha Pawar, Water Sanitation and Hygiene specialist (WASH) engaged in diverse careers addressed the students.

The purpose of this lecture series was to reach out to our alumni and to get them to inspire the current batch of students on their onward journey. One of the speakers of the event was Mr. Jasraj Date, our alumni and a Data scientist at Emotix who gave the audience a glimpse of his journey from being a Mathematics student in SIES to being a Data scientist. The purpose of the seminar was awareness of this new trending concept and the importance of Mathematics in it.
Many management studies students have plans to go abroad and study different courses like MBA and MMS. For this purpose, we had experts on this subject guide the attendees of the seminar on the same and consult them about the path they should follow. SIES Skyline launched its Volume 8: Issue 2 in the august presence of Vice Principal Dr Menon, Mr Saravanan Nadar, Pranav Kelkar, Anshudeep Sharda and Amruta Padhye on 23rd Dec, 2019. The dignitaries were presented with flower bouquets as a token of appreciation followed by the lighting of the lamp to begin with the launch of the Newsletter followed by the Open Mic Event. The Newsletter launch was followed by the prize distribution for the Best Volunteers and Best Editorial Board Members from Issue 1.
SIES Skyline held its first ‘Open mic event’ in association with YOW Creative Annex LLP. on 23rd Dec, 2019. ‘Speaking Souls’ in an international open mic event chain that aims at providing a platform to the local artists to showcase their talent. It saw enthusiastic participation from students across various college of Mumbai. The event was graced by the likes of Pranav Kelkar – spoken word artists and singer, Anshudeep Sharda - Co-Founder at YOW, and Ms Amruta Padhye–Department of Philosophy, SIES College, who was also the judge for the event. The open mic witnessed performances in various genres like comedy, poetry, storytelling to signing and beatboxing. There was a special performance by Comic – Pooja Paath, a SIES Alumnus and singing duo – Bijoy and Clinston from the college. The event ended on a high note with a special performance by Mr Pranav Kelkar. The judges were presented with citations and Thank You gift bags as a token of appreciation from Team Skyline, and all the winners were given certificates and goodies’ bags sponsored by HBO. All participants were given certificate of participation.
The Department of English organised an Industrial Visit to “Dainik Bhaskarâ€, a newspaper publishing house in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 28th December 2019 for the current batch of TYBA English Literature students. Students were explained and made to experience the process of printing and publishing newspapers
Authored a handbook on “Introduction to Public Relations†SYBMM semester III in Mass Media, University of Mumbai published by Himalaya publishing house ISO 9001:2008 certified with ISBN number 978-93-5299-327-7 pcm 239. Participated in a Faculty Development Programme on ‘Research paper writing: Styles and techniques†organised by IQAC & Research Cell on Tuesday, 20th August, 2019. Completed NPTEL Online Certification on Body Language: Key to Professional Success with a score of 77% Jul-Aug 2019 funded by the Ministry, of HRD, GOI. Completed Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) on 28th December 2019 under the faculty of Commerce & Management titled: ‘A study of Employee Engagement Practices in Organised Retail Sector of Mumbai metropolitan Region’.
NSS Residential Camp was organised by the College NSS Unit for 7 days to Gothegar Village, Asangaon, Maharashtra where the volunteers organised meetings, developed Compost Pit, restructured Library, conducted workshop on Self-defence and Yoga, Health Check-up, painted classrooms. conducted interactive learning sessions on technological and social topics and even managed to cook food for themselves from 24th December 2019 to 30th December, 2019.
• A 2-day seminar was organised by the Departments of Humanities on the 13th and 14th of December 2019, titled “Mapping Indian Diasporaâ€. Prominent speakers from various fields were invited for this seminar, who spoke about Diaspora and its international, cultural and political significance.
