Department past student Ms. Rasika Karkare conducted a workshop on how to deonstrate empathy in therapeutic sessions. The workshop was made interesting as there were many activities. Students appreciated the workshop.
A workshop on Effective presentation skills was conducted in two batches on 6-7th Aug 2019 &8-9 Th Aug 2019. Mrs Shailaja Girishankar was the resource person for the same. The workshop was conducted under the aegis of UGC funding received by the institution.
Ms. Chitra Kelkar spoke about the importance of being in te present moment. She also discusssed a few techniques in achieving the same. In the end she gave the audience a n eclair and asked to pay attention while eating it (eat it mindfully)

The Literature students got a chance to interact with the novelist and academician Dr. Gita Viswanath, Retd. Professor from MS University, Baroda, on 13th August 2019. She also read excerpts from her latest novel "Twice It Happened". Gita Viswanath is also an alumnus of the college. Batch of 1977.
On 13th August 2019, a book discussion was conducted by Dr Gita Viswanath with regard to her debut novel “Twice it happenedâ€, where she spoke about the process of writing and publishing. The event ended with an interactive Q&A session with the students.
HIV AIDS Campaign where the NSS volunteers conducted a HIV AIDS Campaign, for which they made posters, e-posters, essay on HIV AIDS and HIV AIDS symbol out of human chain on 13th and 14th August, 2019.
Retired Major Vinay Shreekant Degaonkar shared his experiences of being in the service of Indian Army. He encouraged the students to join the Army. Listening to the first hand experience had a deeper impact on student. The program helped students realize the importance of Defense, and helped imbibe a feeling of Gratitude towards the defense. NCC, NSS and around 60 students attended the same.
Dr. Vivek Belhekar spoke about the importance of experiments in gaining knowledge about the field of Psychology.
The film was screened under the aegis of our film club and was open to all the degree college students and staff.
A seminar was held on ‘Entrepreneurship’ in the college auditorium 23rd Aug, 2019. It was highly palpable and executed by the team & was attended by more than 100 students. Our brilliant speaker, Prof. Samish Dalal, from S.P. Jain School of Global Management had grabbed everyone’s attention the very minute he started talking. It was his admirable knowledge about entrepreneurship and student-friendly humor that made him distinct. He gave an accountable insight to the students about entrepreneurial world.
Talent Mania powered by Himalaya and Adlabs Imagica was an interdepartmental competition for first year students of both degree and junior college to participate in. This year the team planned for the pageant to comprise of two rounds first a talent round and second a personality round. In the first round the participants displayed their talents within the time frame of one minute. The participants were scored and shortlisted to the next round upon the judge’s discretion. In the second round the judges asked a question which was a situation-based question.The winners of the personality pageant who took the title of Mr and Ms Fresher are Rohak Nair (FYJC Arts) and Adithi Hegde (FYBMS)

Organizers: Department of Bioanalytical Sciences, SIES College in collaboration with Pollux Life Science Solutions, Mumbai Background: Department of Bioanalytical Sciences, SIES College which is Interdisciplinary Science with syllabus especially catering to the current Pharmaceutical Industry needs, in its inaugural month conducted an Orientation Session on “Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Industries†in collaboration with Pollux Life Science Solution, Mumbai (an affiliated training partner of Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council, Maharashtra). Pollux Life Science Solutions has been conducting training programme for students in Drug regulatory affairs and Pharmacovigilance in SIES College for past 2-3 years with 90% placement rate and has a MOU with the College. These training programme are under the aegis of “Skill India Development Initiative†Objective: The objective of the orientation was to introduce students to Skills Development initiative. To make students understand the role of National Skill Development Council (NSDC)/ Life Science Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) in promoting career opportunities in Pharmaceutical Industries. To introduce students Functional Training programme conducted by Pollux Life Science Solution which is beneficial to Educational Institutions and students participant and the investments of participants. Impact: The programme beneficiaries included faculty and Postgraduate students belonging to Chemical and Biological Sciences background. This orientation was a step taken by the department of Bioanalytical Sciences to bridge the gap between Academics and Industries, so as to make the participants realize that additional skills/ Training are necessary along with degree before venturing in Pharmaceutical industrial jobs market.
