Stem Cell Donor Registry Drive at SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sion (W) to spread awareness about marrow donors registration and successfully registered 306 marrow donors .
“Preparing an Orientation for UPSC & MPSC Examinations” by Sonia Gupta, Senior Faculty at Lakshya Academy (Mumbai). Ms. Gupta spoke on various aspects like the syllabus, exam patterns etc.
Blood Donation Drive was organised by the NSS Unit at Dadar Railway Station in association with Sion Hospital Blood Bank and successfully collected 134 units of blood from donors .
• A one day Workshop was conducted on “Essential Skills- How to write Effective SOP and impressive Resume” by Ms Garima Shekhar, Manager Outreach and Admissions, Ashoka University on 7th February 2020. 40 students of Economics and Psychology were the beneficiaries.
Parents Teachers meeting was held on 8th Feb 2020 for students of T.Y.B.Sc. A total of 28 parents attended the meeting. The meeting was conducted to discuss the performance of the students and the future career path that can be chosen by them.
Department won the Best Department Award instituted by NPTEL for the September -November 2019 run.

Department of Biochemistry organised a three day Industrial Visit to Nashik-Saputara for the students of TYBSc and MSc. They visited Sula Wines and Sahyadri Farms during the course of their trip. Industrial visit enabled the students to get an exposure to industrial set up of the techniques which they learn in their academic curriculum.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Leela Subramanian on 24th and 25tth Feb. The resource person made the content very simple. She also addressed the fear of Statictics, and encouraged students to do self learning.
An Industrial visit was conducted to Jaipur from 20th Feb to 25th Feb 2020. A total of 68 students attended. The visits included Clay &Craft India Ltd,Saras Diary,G.D Morarka Rural research foundation&Organic food processing unit.
Organized a visit to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for the students of FY, SY and TYBA on 26th February 2020. Department faculties Dr. Vanita Banjan and Mr. Ajinkya Gaikwad facilitated this visit.
The first ever issue of Gulmohar newsletter of Botany department was inaugurated by Dr. Uma Shankar, Principal, SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) on 27th of February 2020.
Dr. Subi Yoosuf from Department of Biotechnology, conducted a guest leture for the students of TYBA Psychology to understand basics of genetics. This lecture helped students to understand the biological perscpective in depth.
Ms. Anuya Dharap, Ms. Vrushali Gupte, Ms. Varsha Muley, Ms. Pallavi Panchal (faculties from degree and junior college) and others recited poems, narrated stories on Gandhiji. This program was organized as a part of Marathi Bhasha Din and was presented as a part of a seminar on Gandhiji
Marathi language day was celebrated by Department of Mass Media on 27th February, 2020. Multi Media and Mass Communication students took an initiative to organise and celebrate this day by exhibiting posters of stalwarts like the eminent Marathi poet and writer Shri Shirvadkar popularly known as ‘Kusmagraj’, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja, Saint Dyaneshwar, Vinda Karandikar and P. L. Deshpande in the field of Arts. The students of FYBAMMC 2019-2020 performed a skit and mime act on the importance of Marathi as a mother tongue in Maharashtra. The exclusive craft of the Shivneri Fort was designed and displayed at the entrance of the department for an historical emotional connect and reminiscence.
A lecture on Intellectual Property Rights was organized on the 28th Feb 2020,Dr Seema Sambrani was invited as the guest speaker. The lecture covered all the aspects of patenting and Intellectual property rights.
Ms. Ketki Doshi from Sisters Living Works conduted the workshop for TYBA Psychology students. She addressed warning signs, risk, protective factors, conducting risk assessment etc. Students found it very helpful as they had studied a part of it in their syllabus.
• Certificate distribution ceremony was held on the 29th of February, 2020. The entire team of Cultural Association, Cultural Committee, and clubs under the association namely Cross Vibez, Music club and Theatre clubattended the event. The event was hosted by the Joint Cultural Secretary Kavya Pillai. The directors and members were given their year completion certificate and the Cultural Secretary Rajat Mogaveera was awarded with a trophy.
