On the occassion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, the associations of Philosophy, History and Marathi Vangmaya Mandal organized a program Bolava Vithal. Degree and Junior college students as well as staff participated enthusiastically.
The Program consisted of abhangas been sung, dances etc. The program was followed by a small 'vari' in the college quadrangle itself.
Collective event of the Department of History, Department of Philosophy and the Marathi Wangmay Mandal, Expressing the Historical, Philosophical and Literary importance of Ashadhi Ekadashi and Pandharpur Pilgrimage. Historical background of the Bhakti Movement & the foundation of the Maratha Swarajya by Chhatrapati Shivaji, spiritual & philosophical importance of the Bhakti Sampradaya also the Literature of the Saints of maharashtra were the themes of this program. It included a narration, dramatisation, Kirtan, Dindi, recitation of Abhanga`s and the symbolic Pandharpur Wari by the students.

The value for the month of July was Rationality. On 6th July, 2017 a talk was organized by the Department of Politics. The talk was given by Adv. An orientation ceremony was conducted wherein the First Year BMS students were informed in detail about the BMS Course including the curriculum, University norms and College policies. The entire ceremony was organised by SYBMS and TYBMS students.

Screening of Short Film 'Little Terrorist' & Student Panel Discussion. Panel discussed various themes like nationalism, communalism etc. portrayed in Indian cinema. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Rashmi Bhure, Head, Department of Politics.

The Value Lab organized an essay writing competition on the topics – “Reason is the slave of Passions”, Is Rational Thinking a rebellion against the traditionally accepted theories? and Rationalism and Creativity : An Interface. The last date of submission of essays was on 28th of July, 2017. The PR message for the event was made by Kaivalya Pitale and Hariharan Iyer. Eleven students participated in the event out of which four were selected and two received prizes. Plagiarism in essays, if any, was checked by Angela and John. Posters for Value Lab board were made by Akanksha(1), Siddharth(1), Aparna P.(one poem), Ashwini (2) , Meghna(main value poster+ 1), Oishi(1), Lokeshwari(1). A Facebook page was created and named SIES Value Lab. P.S. : the number in the brackets represent the number of posters.
