This was an Orientation cum academic counseling session held for the Physics students of SYBSc. The purpose of conducting this session was to make them know the effects of absenteeism in lectures and practical and hence the poor performance in academics.
Two day bridge course for TY BSc Physics students was conducted on 8th and 9th June 2016 in handling the spectrometer, develop skill in soldering simple circuits and testing them and also connecting electronic circuits on bread board and testing them. From this bridge course, 31students were benefitted
One day bridge course in Physics practical was conducted for SYBSc students on 9th,10th and 11th June 2016 separately for each batch. A total of 62 students were fortunate to participate in this course. The course was conducted to develop skill in the use of measuring instruments – vernier calipers, micrometer screw gauge, travelling microscope and adjustments of spectrometer.
The Department in association with the US Consulate, Mumbai organized guest lectures on “US Presidential Elections 2016” by Joyce Peppin (House of Representatives, Minnesota) and Jeff Morris (House of Representatives, Washington)

The film Paris,Texas was screened for all students.
The volunteers were tested and given vaccination for Hepatitis B by United Way Mumbai. 36 volunteers were checked and vaccinated.
A Skill enhancement Workshop on Data Analysis using Minitab software was conducted by N.R.Hegde on 16th and 17th June 2016 for TYBSc students . Minitab has applications in varied fields ranging from the Pharmacuetical industry to the Finance markets.
Chemistry Association of SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Popular Science Lecture Series on “Molecular Symmetry and Point Groups” delivered by Dr. Dimple Dutta, Scientific Officer (F), Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai on Saturday, 18th June 2016 at 8.30 am in Multimedia Room in collaboration with Indian Women Scientists' Association. 31 UG and 7 PG students of our college attended the lecture.
Kawathewadi villagers were briefed about the importance of yoga in day to day life. They were also trained for the same by NSS unit. Beneficiaries were around 100 including volunteers, teachers and Kawathewadi villagers.
Finstsat academy conducted a lecture on 20th June 16 to make students aware about need for learning advanced Excel because of its wide use in Data analytics
Students learned and performed yoga asanas and learned the relevance of yoga in daily life. Students from different streams participated. Students learned Practical application of Yoga in daily life for health and stressfree life.
