The Department of Chemistry was founded in 1960 and celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the year 2009–2010.
1964 – Introduced M.Sc. Organic Chemistry

1982 – Introduced M.Sc. Inorganic Chemistry
Since its inception in 1960, the Department of Chemistry has focused on creating a student-centric environment that fosters overall holistic growth. The Department is committed to excellence in teaching and learning, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The primary goal of our pedagogical approach is to enhance learning while nurturing students’ skills and attitudes. Our faculty prioritizes not only academic success but also supports students in their overall development, including their involvement in extracurricular activities. The Department of Chemistry has successfully organised local workshops, educational exhibitions, interactive sessions and encouraged students to participate in various research meets, competitive exams and intercollegiate activities.
